Fortunately, we have found a solution to this hairy nightmare! By installing the best air purifier for pets, we reduced the amount of dust and pet dander tickling our noses by less than half. More on that later, though.
First, let's go over all the different ways on how to reduce dust and pet hair at your home (while still keeping your beloved furry friends close, of course!)
Reducing Dust and Pet Hair in Home
Grooming and Bathing
After getting dogs and a very furry kitty, we quickly realized that grooming meant lesser brooming. Catchy, right? Try repeating it to yourself whenever you feel too lazy to brush out your doggos fur. Trust us; it works like a charm!
When you frequently brush, bathe, and groom your dog, it prevents hair from shedding all over your couches and carpet. Moreover, it is beneficial for your pet's overall health and allows for some particular bonding time between you two.
Be careful not to overgroom, though, as it can lead to excessive shedding and bald spots on your pet. Every two weeks work for dogs, while you should groom your cats at least once a month.
Limit the Accessible Areas
This tip works exceptionally well for people who suffer from allergic reactions. You can try adding child gates or indoor fences at the entrance of areas where you don't want your pets to go. Since pet hair and dust mostly collect on the carpet, plush sofas, and your clothes, make sure those rooms are inaccessible to the furbabies.
If you have night-time allergies, block off your bedroom's entrance too. It will establish separate rooms for your pet and 'safe zones' where you can enter without fearing an avalanche of dust and pet dander. Before entering your pet's areas, you can take an anti-allergy pill to ensure things don't get messy.
Air Purifiers
Our tried-and-tested trick is to install an air purifier in your home. These devices circulate your indoor air and have in-built HEPA filters, which will catch any dust, pet hair, and dander, and even dust mites. The air released back out is fresh, clean, and free from any germs or allergens.
Cleaner and Fresher Air
By following these tips, you are sure to notice a significant reduction in the amount of dust and pet hair flying around your home. Breathe in deep and give your precious pets lots of cuddles!
