Our doggos are usually the most precious companions, giving us love like no other. We start with just getting one only to end up with an entire pack of dogs of various breeds and sizes. Who can ever resist those adorable faces after all. Lets look at how to keep dust and dog hair down!
But, the more dogs you have, the more difficult it can be to get rid of all the hair they shed, especially the long-haired breeds. Keeping houses clean and fur-free is a struggle for every dog owner. It can require constant brushing, vacuuming, and even investing in the best air purifiers for pets.
Fortunately, with years of keeping doggos in our homes, we have discovered some tips on how to keep dust and dog hair down.
Let’s go over them for optimal cleanliness and maintenance of your homes.
1. Get Lots of Dryer Sheets
Most dog owners let their furbabies roam freely in the house (as should be!). It has dogs shedding all over the place. The dog hair will cover your couches, carpets, and even your laundry before you’ve got a chance to keep it inside.
The solution is pretty simple, load up on dryer sheets. They work perfectly to pick up dog hair and dust on pretty much anything. You can spread them out on furniture, hardwood floors, furry rugs, etc. we’ve realized slightly dampening the sheets before use works best.
2. Purifiers will Keep your Air Fur-Free
Investing in an air purifier will be one of the best decisions you make to keep dust and dog hair down. HEPA filters in the air purifiers don’t let pet hair, dander, dust particles, and other harmful airborne substances pass through. Therefore, your air comes back out fresh and clean.
3. Minimize Shedding
Prevention can often be better than cure. While you can’t completely stop your furbaby from shedding, you can reduce it by taking care of a few things.
- Regular grooming and brushing out your dog’s fur to collect any loose hair.
- Trimming the fur to reduce shedding. We recommend not to shave as the coat protects the dog’s sensitive skin.
- Look out for fleas and ticks as they can increase shedding.
- Offer your dog a healthy, protein-rich diet for a healthy coat that sheds less and looks better.
4. Rubber Gloves and Damp Sponges
A simple way to keep dog hair down and off your furniture is by using dampened sponges and rubber gloves. Dog hair clings well to these materials, so you will need a few swipes over the surface to remove most of the hair.
