Cats are marvelous little things that bring so much joy and love into our lives. They make fantastic companions and are often the perfect additions to our family. However, ask any cat owner, and they’ll tell you about cat hair being the bane of their existence. It just gets everywhere!
We have seen fellow cat owners covered with cat hair, from their clothes to their shoes and even on their faces! We often have mini freakouts at finding white hair on our heads, only to realize they belong to our cattos. This hair-shedding is a problem, and people tend to invest in the best air purifiers for pets to get rid of them.
It becomes worse when this hair is suspended in the indoor air and enters our bodies as we breathe. Pet hair and dander are known to be allergens and can even trigger asthmatic responses in our bodies. Additionally, they can cause severe respiratory issues and other sinuses illnesses.
While we obviously can’t give up our precious felines, here are some tricks on how to get rid of the cat hair in your air so you can breathe easy.
1. Brush Your Kitty
The first and foremost thing you should do is regularly brush and groom your kitty. These specially-designed brushes collect all the hair that she is bound to shed. You can then safely dispose of it without it spreading all over your house and mixing in the air.
Another grooming tip is to trim your cat’s fur every few months if she’s long-haired. While shaving is frowned upon as it can damage their body temperature regulation, trimming works well to reduce shedding, and your cat looks better too!
2. Controlled Area of Activity
If you or your family members are allergic to cat hair or dander, this tip will be handy. Pets love to roam around the house and explore random areas and leave behind their hair as memorabilia everywhere.
So, you can set boundaries or install gates in individual rooms to prevent them from entering. You can even train your smart kitties to not go in certain areas. It lets them roam freely in the rest of the house while also warding off the rooms where your family sleeps to prevent allergic reactions.
3. Use Balloons
We came across this tip somewhat accidentally after a birthday party and are using it ever since. As absurd as it may sound, you can use balloons to collect the pet hair in the air!
All of us learned in science class that rubbing balloons produce static electricity. Well, using that concept, we rubbed balloons on your pet’s hair and then move it around the air in different rooms. The balloon collected all the pet hair like a pro!
P.S. this is a great, fun way for kids to help out in clean-up.
4. Get an Air Purifier
The last and perhaps most efficient way of removing cat hair from the air is by investing an air purifier. These devices have in-built HEPA filters that suck in all the hair, dander, and other harmful particles from your air and collect them while releasing fresh, cleansed air back into your rooms.
At the End
Regardless of whether you have just one cat or many pets, these tips will be immensely helpful in reducing the hair in your air. They will allow you to breathe in deep without the fear of allergens entering your airways, and you can enjoy playing with your beloved furbabies worry-free!
